2011 Broncos Draft Preview

Hello everyone, I hope that you all are well. Today I had the great honor to interview a writer from the http://www.milehighreport.com/. It was a great interview that I now have the chance to share with you guys. Here he is your Broncos draft expert, Mr. Sayre Bedinger!

Brandon Sweeney: Hey man, thanks for coming and spending some time with us!
Sayre Bedinger: Thanks for having me, I've never been asked to do an interview before, so thanks for the request, it's greatly appreciated.

Brandon Sweeney: No problem, we are glad to have you. Okay,  talk a little about last season. Tell us what it was like to watch this franchise to take a step back like they did. Ho was it watching this team each and every week?
Sayre Bedinger:  Last season was the most painful season in Broncos history, in my opinion, since I've been alive. Firing a coach with five games left, winning only four games all season. Being a Broncos fan you are used to at least winning 8 games a year, and anything less is an outlier. This was a terrible season. We had the worst defense in the NFL, and it was tough. You almost felt like you had to will the team to victory. The Broncos played decent defense for three quarters of games, but the offense was to inept to put numbers on the board, so the defense broke down late in games. It was painful.

Brandon Sweeney: Do you think that it was a good move to hire John Fox, seeing how he has had such up and down season with the Panthers, and the last couple have been more down?
Sayre Bedinger: Great move to hire John Fox. I don't attribute a lot of what happened last year to him alone. The Panthers are not willing to spend money in free agency, and they simply had a terrible product. You saw this team at 13-3 a couple of years back, and then you lose guys like Peppers and Delhomme, and everything goes into a shambles. I don't blame Fox for the horrid year Carolina had. He is a veteran guy with good principles, and I think he will bring life to this franchise.

Brandon Sweeney: Okay, April 28th is almost here, who are the Broncos going to take?
Sayre Bedinger: My gut tells me Marcell Dareus, the defensive tackle from Alabama. He's big, athletic, good character, and simply put--a beast. He is the kind of impact player the Broncos have not had on the interior defensive line in ages.

Brandon Sweeney: What makes you think that the Broncos will take Dareus?
Sayre Bedinger: That's a good question. I keep hearing he is the "leader in the clubhouse" or "It would be a giant upset if the Broncos don't take Dareus", and then you hear Elway and Xanders with their gleaming reviews of him. Plus, it makes sense. He has the capability to be a dominant defensive tackle, which is essential for this new defense. The Broncos also cut their top two starters at the position from last season.

Brandon Sweeney:  In the later rounds of the draft, what positions do the Broncos need to fill? Name a few players that can come in and help in the later rounds.
Sayre Bedinger: Best player available, no question. I think the Broncos can't afford to be picky in the later rounds. Receiver, tight end, linebacker--any great athlete they can find, they need to take him. This team is as devoid of talent as they are anything else.

Brandon Sweeney: A lot of talk whether the Broncos will or will not take a quarterback. What do you think?
Sayre Bedinger:  If the Broncos take a quarterback, it will be a colossal mistake. You've heard the adage, "Cross the bridge when you come to it." Well, the Broncos are at least a year away from the bridge.

Brandon Sweeney:  If this team gets their team needs in this Draft, what is your prediction for them this season?
Sayre Bedinger: The Broncos should shoot for the fences. I could see this team anywhere between 6-8 wins next year. Possibly more of the defense surprises people. As a fan, I can think of ways they can get to 16-0 every year!

Brandon Sweeney: Sayre, thank you so much for spending some time with us at PFH. Any last things you would like to tell the readers?
Sayre Bedinger:  Enjoy the draft, spend time with friends and family, and remember--football is FUN! Have fun with it!
