PFH Second Mock Draft Picks (27-32)

Hello everyone, I hope that all of you are doing great and enjoying the mock draft as much as me! We are down to just our final six picks. Teams from the Falcons-Packers. Who will they take at the bottom of the first? Any surprises? Well then how about we get to it and see who is going where.

Falcons, 27th Pick - Justin Houston (OLB), Georgia
A big fan of Justin Houston. Has a lot of upside to him, and if he is out there for the Falcons' pick, there is no way that they pass him up. Watching his play at Georgia, he has a lot of upper body strength which helps with his pass rushing ability. He is one of the best pass rushers in this class, and also a very good run stopper. Atlanta would have to put this guy at the end position. A position that he played until Georgia switched to a 3-4 defense. He is a great talent in this class and a great pick to help that Falcons' defense.

Patriots, 28th Pick - Cam Heyward (DE) Ohio State
Cam Heyward is an interesting prospect. He has good size and is a very good athletic DE. Use to playing in the 3-4 scheme at Ohio State, and has a motor that doesn't stop. I like watching his film. He is powerful and is quick. Has had a few good seasons at Ohio State, but wasn't as impressive in his senior year. Still didn't do bad, and was a little dinged up. Had 3.5 sacks last season. Will work good in a 3-4 scheme.

Bears, 29th Pick - Nate Solder (T), Colorado
Nate Solder is a good young talent, and he has to prove that. I think the Bears need a linemen. They had problems at times last season with the offensive line, and Nate Solder has the potential to be very good. The question is where would you put him? At Colorado he played left tackle and he did a nice job there. Would you keep him there or are you going to move him to the right side is the question. Solder has quick feet and is strong. Had a nice Combine and is on my radar. look for the Bears to be very interested in Solder if he is still out there.

Jets, 30th Pick - Marvin Austin (DT), North Carolina
A great talent that doesn't get out of the first round. Has teams convinced that he is a great athlete. Had a good career at Nor Carolina, but there are some things that he needs to improve on. He is very athletic for a defensive tackle, but watching his film I can tell that he needs to get lower. He goes to high while getting blocked and at times he gets blown off the ball. A nice pass rusher when he wants to be. Questions about his motor. Has had great team work outs and a good senior bowl. The jets need to get a bit younger on that defensive line that could also use a little help, take Austin. He improves the line as soon as you plug him in.

Steelers, 31st Pick - Brandon Harris (CB), Miami
I feel that the Steelers should go for a good corner that already has a lot of potential. Harris can play good man coverage, but will occasionally let a catch go by. He has the potential, and if he goes to the right organization, and to the right coaching staff, he will be a very good corner.I feel that if they want a better defense than they already have, a corner back is a need. He had a good career at Miami, and I think that he can make the transition to the NFL.

Packers, 32nd Pick - Akeem Ayers (OLB), UCLA
Akeem Ayers should have a bright future in the NFL. Might take a while to get off the board, but has good potential. Has had several good games with UCLA. The Buccaneers could use a line backer like Ayers. Someone that knows how to make the play. He can play several different positions if you ask him to, but for the Packers he will be an outside line backer position. On the other side from Mathews. He is an average tackler, but would get the chance to work with Mathews. This could be a great pick defensive wise for the Packers if Ayers lives up to his potential.

PFH Second Mock Draft Picks (21-26)

Hey everyone, and thanks for reading my Mock Draft picks 21-26. The other twenty picks have been great and I you guys have been telling me what you have thought. For these picks, nothing is different. Please leave your thoughts in a comment on the comment box below. It's not hard at all, just leave what you think and let your  opinion to be heard! Lets get started!

Chiefs, 21st Pick - Corey Liuget (DT), Illinois

An athletic defensive tackle with lots of talent. Had a good career at Illinois especially last year piling up 63 tackles, and five sacks. Has played a couple different positions on the defensive line, but plays best on at the defensive tackle position. The Chiefs could use this 298 pound stud right here. Was a team captain last year. He really is a all around player. I like him right here for the Chiefs.

Colts, 22nd Pick - Jimmy Smith (CB), Colorado
Jimmy Smith, a very good cover corner. Can be a good pick right here for the Colts. An All Big-12 Player lat season. In his career at Colorado, he allowed just 11 completions in his junior and senior year. Looking at a couple of his films, I see that he shuts down a lot of receivers, but I think that he needs work on his open field tackling. If he can become a better tackler, he can be a pro bowler.

Eagles, 23rd Pick - Gabe Carimi (OT), Wisconsin
A team captain at Wisconsin in 2010. He is what I like to call a scrapper. A tough run blocker that will not shy away from the brutal contact. By watching his play on the field you can see that in him, but being such a "scrapper" as I would say, leads him to make some bad decisions, particularly in the passing game. Sometimes he will not kickoff fast enough or just simply get beat. He does show very good quickness and is a potential pro bowler, but still has some questions to answer. I think that the Eagles take him here to help the passing game. He is the best choice right here.

Saints, 24th Pick - Adrian Clayborn (DE), Iowa
When I watch Clayborn's film, I think that he should be ranked higher, but with all the talent on the defensive line, he falls somewhere around here. He may rise. If you are in need for a defensive linemen, Clayborn is right up any team's alley. Only bad thing I would have to say is his numbers really went down in 2010, from from his numbers in 2009. Has a few injury questions that he has to answer. Has good closing speed, and can rip off blocks. He is a very good leader on and off the field. If you watch his game against Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl in 2009, he had a great game. There aren't very many things that he does wrong, and therefor he should fit good with a team like the Saints.

Seahawks, 25th Pick -  Jake Locker (QB), Washington
Jake Locker is first on my list for the Seahawks. The Seahawks need a potential Franchise quarterback, and Locker has all the potential. I think that they have said their final goodbyes to Matt Hasselbeck. Now they need to start building for their future. There are questions about Locker's accuracy, so therefor he has a lot to prove, but what more people need to realize that he has played in a pro-style offense his whole college career. Therefor, he has an advantage over the other top quarterbacks. He has grown on my list. I have talked to a few people that have made me like this guy a bit more. What you get with this guy is what you get. He is a very straight forward player. I like Locker here, and I think that this is the start of a rebuilding process for the Seahawks.

Ravens, 26th Pick - Aaron Williams (CB), Texas
I believe Aaron Williams will be on a lot of team's radar down late in the first. Is a good talent that knows how to make plays. Is still young, but by time he learns the new play book, he should be a very good corner/safety. A lot of scouts say that he is a little stiff in the hips, and could make him play safety. Makes good open field tackles, and has good closing speed to make the play. When the Ravens go on the clock, they better consider taking Williams. This Ravens defensive back group needs help.

Draft Preview with Fran Duffy

On Friday April 8th, I had an interview with Draft expert Fran Duffy. Fran is an incredible guy and he really made this a great interview. He has written for sites like NFLDraft101.com, Kffl.com, Yahoo, CBS Sportsline, and ProFootballWeekly.  Let's take a look at the great chat we had together.

Brandon Sweeney: Hello Fran and Thank you for joining us today at Pro Football Hotline.
Fran Duffy: Hey Brandon! Thanks for having me.

Brandon Sweeney: Lets get right down to it business, and talk about the draft. For the ones that will be reading this, one question that they may want to know is who will be the number one overall pick of the 2011 Draft?

PFH Second Mock Draft Picks (11-20)

Okay guys, since my first ten picks are out, it is time to move on. Now we will go through picks 11-20. Let's take a look!

Texans, 11th Pick - Aldon Smith (DE), Missouri
Aldon Smith is my #2 DE on my board. Had seventeen sacks in his two seasons at Mizzou. Is a natural pass rusher. Not the most impressive run defender, but is a good tackler. Lining up on the other side of Mario Williams, this can be a dominant defensive line. Aldon Smith continues to grow on my board mainly because of his pass rushing. I really like this guy, and I think that he will be a dominant if he lives up to his potential.

Vikings, 12th Pick - Robert Quinn (DE) North Carolina
Robert Quinn is a questionable pick all because of that suspension this past season. If he had another season like he had in 2009 instead of getting suspended, he maybe have been an earlier pick. He has dropped on my board. By what we know about Quinn, I think the Vikings should take a chance on him. He makes the defense stronger, and would be a great addition to Jared Allen, and with the current CBA situation, we aren't sure about Ray Edwards. Is a dominant pass rusher and would be good pick right here if he falls.

Lions, 13th Pick - Prince Amukamara (CB), Nebraska
Amukamara is my personal favorite CB in the class. I think that he plays very good man coverage and just gets into excellent position to make the play. Tackles so well in the open field. I feel that the Lions could use a potential "shut down" corner on their team. He has all the ability to be great. Struggles at times with his back peddle. Reminds me of Nnamdi Asomugha. Just has the potential to be a shut down corner back. Was a team captain last year for Nebraska, and I think that shows that he can be a good leader.

PFH Second Mock Draft Picks (1-10)

Hey guys, it is time to have PFH's second mock draft. Just like last time I will give you the complete first round and where I think the prospects will be going. Last mock draft was a great success, so I am hoping for the same for this one. Here we go!

Panthers, 1st Pick - Cam Newton (QB), Auburn
I keep fighting myself on where to put Cam Newton. He definitely is a great talent out of Auburn. In the end, I think that it was his pro day that pushed him over the top. He had a good workout on March 8th. He completed 50/60 passes. He did over throw some of those, but all in all a good workout. If you like this him, take him. He can bring a new type of playing style to the quarterback position, but will he be what it takes to bring the Panthers back up?

Broncos, 2nd Pick - Marcell Dareus (DT), Alabama
Marcell Dareus is a big stud at 6'4, and over 300 pounds. Very powerful, but he is quick enoungh that you can put him at the end position as well. This would be a good pick for the Broncos. He can be an excellent defensive tackle for any team, and will need two guys to block him. He can make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage. Many teams would like a guy like Dareus, and if I am the Broncos, take a chance on Marcell Dareus.

Bills, 3rd Pick - Von Miller (OLB), Texas A&M

One of my favorite players on the whole entire board. Makes a lot of plays when the defense needs it. Was the voice of that Texas A&M defense and in a couple years he can be the voice of an NFL team. For the Cardinals, I think that you need to make a pick like this. Von Miller can make a play no matter if you put him on the right or left side. Reminds people of DeMarcus Ware. The Bills could use a linebacker that can make plays the way Miller can. A sideline to sideline type player. The Bills' defense, I believe, needs some young talent like Miller unless they decide to go quarterback and take Gabbert.

Breaking Down Offensive Tackle Gabe Carimi

Hello everyone, have a few tapes I want to show you of offensive tackle Gabe Carimi. Lets take a look.

In this tape against Ohio State, Gabe had a great game. He is what I would call a "scrapper." He isn't afraid to go down and do the dirty work. Did a great job against Cameron Heyward.

2011 Eagles Draft Preview

Hey guys, I am starting to have interviews with people that are close to their team. The interviews are about what their team needs to do in the draft. Today we are starting with the Eagles. We all know that the Eagles had a great year last year, with a lot of surprises and all, but coming up shy in the end, what do the Eagles need to do this year to get to the big stage? It starts with the draft. We have Troy Ballard an insider for the Eagles with us today, and we get straight to business. Read our interview!

Keeping up with the Fans

Last Saturday I held a contest on Twitter to see which fan wanted a chance to write their own article on Pro Football Hotline. The winner got to choose what he/she wanted to write about, and last Saturday our winner was decided. Matt Johnson got the chance to write an article and took the advantage of it. Read his great article about the NFL Draft, and the interview we had!

When the Carolina Panthers are put On the Clock on Thursday, April 28th it will be one of the biggest decisions in the franchise’s history.
