Your First Look into the Super Bowl

And we are down to two teams in the whole NFL. The Steelers and the Packers. This will be a great match up. I am looking forward to this game. This may be one of the best Super Bowls ever. These two teams may have the best history in the whole League. I believe that both teams have earned their spot in this game. Both teams have some awesome stories this year, both have had a lot of injuries. Steelers Tackle Flozell Adams is playing in his first Super Bowl, and this is his 13th season in the League. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers showing that he deserves to be playing that position for the Packers. All of these Stories are magnificent, and you should really study up before this game, because it will make you respect this match up a lot more!

When I look at each position on these teams, both teams are kind of equal. The Quarterbacks, Ben Roethlisberger and Aaron Rodgers. Now, a lot of people say that Rodgers is a better quarterback. I am not saying that he isn't a great quarterback, but Ben has two Super Bowl wins, so I have to put him up there. Rodgers just in his third season starting for the Packers, and now is in his first Super Bowl. I think that Roethlisberger gets no credit for what he does. He does not make the plays that look beautiful, but he is a winner. I say much of the same about Rodgers. He reminds me a lot of Ben. Two great quarterbacks, that know how to get it done.

The wide receivers match up. They both look around the same. I think that the talent range is just about the same. The Steelers know when to bring in Heath Miller, and sometimes they will go with a four wide receiver set. They are making plays with all of these guys. The two rookie wide receivers in Emanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown have made plays all year long for the Steelers. If you add these weapons on top of Mike Wallace and the very consistent Hines Ward. The Packers wide outs have a huge amount of talent as well. Greg Jennings is a receiver that can be a threat anywhere on the field. Donald Driver is very consistent still, much like Hines Ward. Jordy Nelson and James Jones are more compliments to this passing game. Both offenses can get it done.

                                           Packers Advantages

The Steelers offensive line has had injuries, and that makes Clay Matthews even more dangerous.

Packers may win in Special Teams. Steelers special teams has looked better this year, but can still give up field position at times.

                                        Steelers Advantages

Steelers look like they will have the better running game. I like Mendenhall coming off two nice post season games.

Steelers Defense is always an advantage. This is the main reason why that they are in the Super Bowl.

Experience. Steelers have won two Super Bowls in seven years. Winning one just two years ago. They know how to get it done in this big game.

Now there are a lot more things to look at. I have just named a few, to give you your first little look at Super Bowl 45. I want to know how much team pride you guys have. I will leave it up to you to leave comments and talk about your teams being in the Super Bowl. Give me your predictions. Tell me some things that I may have left out.

                     WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

STEELERS GET #7                     OR                              PACKERS GET #4

My Trip to the AFC Championship

Sunday, January 23rd, I took a trip to Pittsburgh and attended the AFC Championship. Temperature went down to seven degrees with the wind chill made it negative four degrees. This never stopped Steeler Nation from being loud and proud that their team was one win away from the Super Bowl.

The Jets went into the game playing a very good Steelers team. They have experience and a championship defense. The Jets just played the Steelers in week 15, in a game that went down to the last play. The Jets won that game, but the Steelers were determined to change the results to this game.

Ben Roethlisberger was a big key in my opinion in this game. He could do what the other quarterbacks couldn't do while playing the Jets in the playoffs, and that is to extend the play. Roethlisberger's numbers were not the greatest being 10-19, throwing two interceptions. He still made key plays when he needed to. He is one of the best under pressure.

Mark Sanchez was worried about Troy Polamalu. When you watched Sanchez play, you could tell that he was working away from Troy Polamalu. He was not throwing it near Troy at all. I have to give it to Mark Sanchez some credit. He did not make very many mistakes. I thought that there was some passes that were bad decisions, but he made some nice passes and really put the Jets back into the game.

In the end the Jets put themselves in too big of a hole in the first half, and the momentum went from there. I thought that the crowd was a factor, as always at Heinz Field. Rashard Mendenhall put the running game in his hands. Bounced off tackles, and got an impressive 121 yard rushing game. The Steelers will need their center Maurkice Pouncey back before the Super Bowl. Their offensive drives were quite the same after he went down. There was miscommunication between Roethlisberger and back up center Doug Legursky. It was a great game, and I hope that you all enjoyed it as much as I did. The Steelers will advance, as the Jets season comes to a finish.

Conference Title Games on the Gridiron

Hello guys, I don't know how you guys feel, but this has been one of the longest weeks of this NFL season. I have been waiting patiently for some more football, and now it is so close, that I can't wait! There are two very good games coming up on Sunday evening. Maybe the best pair of conference games ever! Lets get to my picks!

Packers @ Bears. This is the first game on schedule for Sunday. This will be a great game. Let me tell you that I have talked to several Packers and Bears fans this past week, and they can't for this game. Two rivals that can not stand each other. So much history between these two teams, and not one bit of it has faded away. In my eyes I see that the Bears have the better defense, but that doesn't mean that the Packers defense aren't red hot right now, because they are. They have helped out Aaron Rodgers and the offense through many games over this season. This will be a low-scoring game, but there is one advantage on each side of the offenses. On the Packers there is Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is becoming a very good quarterback. He may just be the next great one. Rodgers has been on fire in the past several games for the Packers, helping the team get into the playoffs, and then winning two straight playoff games, on the road. If Rodgers continues this streak, then this could be a long day for the Bears. For the Bears, they can establish a running game. They know how to work the running backs into the offense. Matt Forte has been a great compliment to the Bears offense. Cutler uses him in the passing game, and they can run the ball with him as well. Cutler needs to stay away from the mistakes for them to win. Do not give ball hawks like Tramon Williams a chance to make a play on the ball. This will be a close game, but in the end only one can win. My Pick= Packers 23-21

Jets @ Steelers. Another great game on the list for this Sunday. You have the flying high Jets coming to play the Steelers who just came off a great win against the Ravens. I loved watching the Steelers/Ravens game last week, but that always is a good game. That second half showed a lot about the heart of that offense and defense of the Steelers. The Jets just came off of an exciting game beating the Patriots. Really I don't see this game being as close as everyone may think. This game can be very one-sided. The Jets have not trash talked until yesterday, starting with Cromartie. I don't like how they are all coming out against Hines Ward. Hines is not a dirty player in my opinion. Advantages:

  1. Ben Roethlisberger vs Mark Sanchez. Sanchez, is going against this mean Steelers defense. Roethlisberger has been in games like these playing the Ravens so many times. Sanchez will be going against his toughest challenge as a quarterback.
  2. Jets Running Game vs Steelers Defense. I will take the Steelers Defense every time. This defense is so good right now that I think that they will stop the Jets running game. Both backs are very good for the Jets, but not as good as that Steel Curtain.
This is going to be a great game, but I like the Steelers in this one! My Pick= Steelers 24-10

Now I know that all of you guys are pumped about these games. talk about them. Tell me your predictions and tell me what you want to see in these games. Spread the word.. Tell me if you like or dislike my picks! Have a great Sunday!

What have we Learned?

Well we have now moved past the Divisional Round in the Playoffs and there is a lot that we can take for this last week of Football.

  • Tom Brady maybe not as clutch as everyone may have thought. Tom Brady has has just lost his third consecutive playoff loss. If we really think about it it, Brady is used to working with a big lead, and that doesn't sound clutch to me. Once Brady was hit a few times, he was a little rattled out there. He still played a good game, and is no doubt an all-time great quarterback.
  • Steelers do have a Power House Offense. The Steelers played a great game on Saturday. Down 21-7 at halftime, came back from behind, with a little help from that great defense. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger don't get nearly enough credit for what he deserves. Every time time Big Ben needs to get it done, he does. No matter how hard it looks. The Steelers defense did very well for playing a Ravens defense, and if Big Ben had one or two more decent offensive linemen, you are looking at a very dangerous team.
  • Aaron Rodgers not Slowing Down. Aaron Rodgers carved up the Falcons offense, throwing for three touchdowns, and he ran for one too. Rodgers has looked very good in his first two playoff wins. Next week will be a great game at Soldier Field. He hasn't slowed down yet, what makes you think that a tough Bears Defense will slow him down?
  • Jets just don't Talk the Talk, but they can Walk the Walk. We have all seen the highlights to the Jets @ Patriots game. If you have read my post, I didn't say that it was impossible for the Jets to win, I said that it was going to be a very good game. Point is that Rex Ryan was ready for this game. he was very focussed, and wanted to show Wes Welker and the Patriots, his feet heading to Pittsburgh for the AFC Conference Championship game. I am happy for the Jets to win a big game like this, but one thing that I must say Jets, don't think that you are the best already, because you have a storm waiting for you in Pittsburgh, and it will be loud! All in all, a great way to wrap up the Divisional Round.
We have had several great games this Playoffs, and it shows you that teams like the Patriots and Falcons, teams that have been hot all year long, their seasons can just stop, and your great season is over. this has been another great round of the playoffs that goes in the record books for the 2010 NFL season.
Who do you guys like next week? Who will be heading to Superbowl 45?

Jets vs. Steelers                                          Packers vs. Bears

Sunday- Divisional Round games on the Gridiron

Hello guys, well what a set of games we had last night. Both games ended up being very good. The Steelers come back in the second half and win by a touchdown, and the Falcons just made too many mistakes. All in all a great day of football it was, and those two games put my playoff picks record at 1-5. This will change today though, as I am sure that I will pick two winners.

Seahawks @ Bears. Can the Seahawks do it again? Can they shock the world twice? Seahawks head into the game as 10 point underdogs, but I think they like playing that role. Last week, Matt Hasselbeck played outstanding, and Marshawn Lynch put the game on ice as he broke nine tackles in a spectacular run. Now today, the Seahawks are playing a tough Bears defense. I don't see them going up top like they were able to do against the Saints. The Seahawks need to establish some type of running game, and Hasselbeck needs to be consistent. On the other side, Jay Cutler will need to do the same if he wants to win. Seahawks middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu is questionable because he is suffering a concussion. That can hurt the Seahawks, as well as playing in a noisy Soldier Field. I think that the Bears will need to work a little more packages with Matt Forte, and give him the ball. This game might be a closer won, but then again if the Bears get ahead early, they will never look back. My Pick= Bears 28-17

Jets @ Patriots. This will be a good game to watch ladies and gentlemen. I personally, can not wait to watch it. This game got a whole lot interesting thanks to a Wes Welker press conference. Welker may have made a wrong move by joking around about the incident earlier this season with Rex Ryan. I think this game will be a close game. The Jets defense is ready, and Rex Ryan would like to teach this Patriots team a lesson. Now, obviously it is not that easy, when you are playing Tom Brady, it can get away from you very quickly. If the Jets want this game, they will need to generate an offense, and score quickly, and better never look back. Sanchez will need to be consistent. This may be an upset, because the Jets are 9 point underdogs. I think that if the Jets can run the ball and keep Brady off of the field, just like they did against the Colts, they have a decent shot at this. Although, Tom Brady don't need that many shots on the field to put you in a bad position. I truly do believe that this will be a close game, but in the end the Patriots win. My Pick= Patriots 27-20.

Saturday- Divisional Round games on the Gridiron

Well it's time now to take my picks for the Divisional round of the playoffs. Last week really was a great week of football. It had a little bit of everything. An upset, a couple close ones, and some very good highlights. Now the NFL fans want to see some more, and can't wait for the next game to kickoff.

There is a question that I have for all of you? Who is the NFL's Head Coach of the year? You think of a lot of names, but let's take a look at the guys that might just win the award.

Panthers Coaching Hunt is Over

The Panthers have hired Ron Rivera as the franchise's fourth head coach in team history. Rivera was recently the defensive coordinator for the Chargers. The Panthers will hold a press conference at 5 P.M. ET, announcing their new head coach. The team has been looking for a coach for awhile now, since they fired John Fox who spent quite some time there. Fox is being interviewed by other teams, but the Panthers found someone to fill in his spot.

Sunday- Wild Card games on the Gridiron

Now that it is Sunday, lets take a look at the Sunday games. Yesterday, both of my picks were wrong, but I plan on bouncing back with two wins today!

Ravens @ Chiefs. This will be another great game in the Wild Card round. Yesterday after two great games, this one will add to it. I think that it will be a close game, and I can not wait to watch it. Both offenses will do very well. Flacco will need to help his offense generate long drives, and to score some points. In the Playoffs the quarterback needs to play very well, and if Flacco doesn't, the Ciefs can have this game. The Ravens defense has a very tough challenge, and that is to stop Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones. The Chiefs running game is the most dangerous in the NFL. The Ravens defense better be able to stop them, and stop the Cassel to Bowe connection as well. The Ravens have another challenge and that is to go to Arrowhead Stadium and to get a win. The Chiefs are 7-1 this year at home. A very good home record. The Chiefs fans are ready to get loud today. I see this game getting very interesting late in the game. My Pick= Chiefs 27-24

Packers @ Eagles. This game can easily go either way. This will be the hardest one to pick. I love Aaron Rodgers, but the Packers defiantly lack in the running game, and that will hurt you in the Playoffs. The Eagles have a nice balanced offense, and depending on how the Packers defense on how they will hold Mike Vick. ike Vick has gotten injured a few times this season, so that might hold him back to get rid of the ball a few more times today. I think that whoever plays the best defense will be the winner today. I am going to take the balanced offense. My Pick= Eagles 41-34

Saturday-Wild Card Games on the Gridiron

Hello guys, I can not believe that we are in the Playoffs. This season has went by fast, and now it is time to see the best of the best play each other.

Saints @ Seahawks. Well this is the first game that is on schedule for the Playoffs. Many teams think that the Seahaks shouldn't be here, and that a team like the Buccaneers or Giants could of filled that spot to make it a better game. Now of course that I am going with the Saints in this game, but the Seahawks may win in Special teams, and turnovers to help them out. They will need to play all dimensions of the game. This game rests on Matt Hasselbeck's shoulders. He needs to make good decisions, and keep Drew Brees on the sidelines. Score anytime that you have a chance. The Seahawks do have an advantage. Weather is supposed to be around 40 degrees and rainy. The Saints offense has lost their two leading running backs, and now are banking on Reggie Bush on being a starter. Even though the Seahawks have the advantage, I don't think that it will stop the Saints from flying right past them. My Pick= Saints 34-17

Jets @ Colts. This game should be a great game to watch tonight. There are two very focussed teams, looking to bash into each other. Rex Ryan has lost all seven match ups against the Colts, dating back to when he was with the Ravens, when Manning has played the whole game. Rex Ryan seems very focussed on beating Peyton Manning and the Colts. The Colts need to establish a run game against this tough defense. Manning has been on a roll, winning his last four games to get the Colts into the Playoffs. The Colts defense is looking very good. Only giving up an average of 66.0 yards rushing in the last three games. The Jets have given up an average of 101.0 yards in the last three games. The Colts defense has looked very good. This is going to be a very close game. Peyton Manning will be reading the defense, so I wouldn't blitz too many. Now Manning doesn't have all of his targets, but he can make any wide out look good. Sanchez will need to have a game like how he was playing last playoffs. He has good weapons, and will need to use them. If the Colts defense will stop the Jets rushing attack I see them winning. My Pick= Colts 27-23

Jim Harbaugh accepts a 5-year contract with the 49ers

As reported around 4:00 P.M. ET, Jim Harbaugh has accepted a 5-year contract worth $25 million with the 49ers. The 49ers are holding a press conference at 6:30 P.M. ET, for reporters first interview with the team's new head coach. Within the same week we learn that Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck will stay there, and Harbaugh is leaving. Now lets see if this is the guy that can get the 49ers back into the playoffs.

PFH's Prediction

The Pro Football Hotline Prediction to win Superbowl 45 is the Steelers. This team looks very dangerous. Personally I think that they have the strongest defense in the Playoffs right now, and their offense has been on fire  as of late. I think that the Steelers could beat anyone in the Playoffs right now. This team will be rested and very focussed. Ben Roethlisberger looks better then he ever has. With Polamalu back, and in my opinion the defensive MVP, this team is ready to take their seventh Lombardi trophy. What is your prediction? Leave a comment/question in the comment under this post!

Hasselbeck will Start

Seattle Seahawks came out on Thursday and announced that Matt Hasselbeck would be the team's starting quarterback for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Saints. Backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst won the game against the Rams to get the sixth seed playoff spot. Hasselbeck, who was still suffering from injury, watched from the sidelines. Now that Hasselbeck is recovered, Pete Carroll is going to go with the more experienced quarterback. Hasselbeck knows what it takes to win in the Playoffs. Now, will he have what it takes to beat the defending champs?

Titans go with Fisher

As we all know, the Titans have had a decision to make. That was to part ways with Quarterback Vince Young or to part ways with head coach Jeff Fisher. Young and Fisher have had their problems earlier in the season and Fisher wanted to be done with him. After the problem occurred, and Young was put on injured reserve due to injury, the Titans winning percentage went down dramatically. After the season, owner Bud Adams made his decision. Rumors went around saying that Adams would go with Vince Young, but on January 5th, the Titans came out and said they would be parting ways with Vince Young. The team will probably seek to trade him before they will release them. A long couple of days for the Titans, but in the end the Titans take Jeff Fisher.

Steelers Aaron Smith back at Practice

The Steelers Defensive End Aaron Smith was in full pads today at practice on Wednesday. This is big for the Steelers as they make their Superbowl march. Smith was injured late October, and he finally back in pads. Now he still may not be ready to play by next week, but it is good to have one of your smartest players on defense getting better.

Lewis stays with Bengals

Bengals Head Coach Marvin Lewis will remain the Head Coach for the Bengals. As his contract was up and reported talking to other teams, but owner Mike Brown wanted him back and Lewis wanted to be back. The contract is for a reported two years. This mat be surprising to many teams, seeing how they only won four games this season, and finishing last in the division. Is this Lewis' last chance?
