Coach of the Year

There is a question that I have for all of you? Who is the NFL's Head Coach of the year? You think of a lot of names, but let's take a look at the guys that might just win the award.

I would say that the popular vote would be Patriots coach Bill Belichick. I can defiantly see where he would be the coach of the year. He coached his team to a 14-2 record and it is a very young team too. Very young on defense, and not much older on defense. A lot of playmakers jumped out this year on the Patriots roster over the course of the season. Players like Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, and Pat Chung. These guys have stepped up in big moments to help their team win. Belichick seemed to make all the right decisions during the season, a big one was getting Deion Branch. Branch came back to the Patriots after spending a little over four seasons with the Seahawks. Before Branch went to the Seahawks, he spent four seasons with the Patriots, and won a Superbowl MVP honor in that time. Tom Brady has looked more sharp then he ever has. I would say that this would be the popular pick.

Raheem Morris, in my opinion deserves to be at least brought up in this discussion. Taking a team that had the second overall pick in the NFL draft and just falling short to the playoffs, but they did have a winning record of 10-6. Which I thing is magnificent. The Buccaneers have found some offense. Raheem Morris drafted a quarterback that is going to be a good one in the future in Josh Freeman. Freeman has a lot of potential, and is just one good, young piece to this offense. Running back LeGarrette Blount has been another young, big potential type player on this offense. A great idea to pick up Blount after he was released by the Titans. Not to mention that he was undrafted. Mike Williams has became a young wide receiver that you have to watch, because Freeman has found him plenty of times during his rookie season. Morris has established a young talented offense, and could have this team in the playoffs next year.

Falcons Coach Mike Smith has lead his team to a demanding 13-3 record, and won the division. He might have one the toughest division in the league. Being in the same division as the Saints and the Buccaneers is hard to only lose three games all season long. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is having his best season of his career. Mike Smith has helped this franchise so much I think. All of the pieces that Smith's puzzle are falling in their place during this season. He has demanded a winning team and that is why they are in the spot that they are in now. The Falcons are a well balanced team, maybe one of the best balanced teams, and are very well coached. This team has a tough challenge in the playoffs, but are ready, and will really show if Mike Smith deserves this honor.

The PFH Head Coach of the year is Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. Tomlin, in my opinion, deserves the real honor of coach of the year. From when the season even started, Tomlin has had a lot of problems. Knowing that you won't have your franchise quarterback for the first four weeks. A starting linemen in Willie Colon go down for the season. Tomlin has kept his team focussed and finished the season with a 12-4 record. The Steelers also lost, arguably their best defensive linemen, Aaron Smith for most of the season. Injuries kept affecting this team, but the Steelers kept winning, and they never looked back. The defense has carried them like always, but late in the season you started to see how dangerous that offense could be. Mike Tomlin has been a great motivator for this team and deserves this honor.

Who is your coach of the year? Mike McCarthy? A Todd Haley? Tell me in a comment under this post!
