My Trip to the AFC Championship

Sunday, January 23rd, I took a trip to Pittsburgh and attended the AFC Championship. Temperature went down to seven degrees with the wind chill made it negative four degrees. This never stopped Steeler Nation from being loud and proud that their team was one win away from the Super Bowl.

The Jets went into the game playing a very good Steelers team. They have experience and a championship defense. The Jets just played the Steelers in week 15, in a game that went down to the last play. The Jets won that game, but the Steelers were determined to change the results to this game.

Ben Roethlisberger was a big key in my opinion in this game. He could do what the other quarterbacks couldn't do while playing the Jets in the playoffs, and that is to extend the play. Roethlisberger's numbers were not the greatest being 10-19, throwing two interceptions. He still made key plays when he needed to. He is one of the best under pressure.

Mark Sanchez was worried about Troy Polamalu. When you watched Sanchez play, you could tell that he was working away from Troy Polamalu. He was not throwing it near Troy at all. I have to give it to Mark Sanchez some credit. He did not make very many mistakes. I thought that there was some passes that were bad decisions, but he made some nice passes and really put the Jets back into the game.

In the end the Jets put themselves in too big of a hole in the first half, and the momentum went from there. I thought that the crowd was a factor, as always at Heinz Field. Rashard Mendenhall put the running game in his hands. Bounced off tackles, and got an impressive 121 yard rushing game. The Steelers will need their center Maurkice Pouncey back before the Super Bowl. Their offensive drives were quite the same after he went down. There was miscommunication between Roethlisberger and back up center Doug Legursky. It was a great game, and I hope that you all enjoyed it as much as I did. The Steelers will advance, as the Jets season comes to a finish.
