3rd Round Pick(70th overall)- Justin Houston, OLB (Georgia)
3rd Round Pick(86 overall)- Allen Bailey, DL (Miami)

5th Round Pick(140 overall)- Gabe Miller, LB (Oregon State)
6th Round Pick- Jerrell Powe, DL (Mississippi)
7th Round Pick- Shane Bannon, FB (Yale)

Personal Favorites: Jonathan Baldwin is a long receiver at 6'5 and 230 pounds. Gets off the line quickly, and is a decent route runner. At Pitt, he dropped passes, but can make all of the catches. After the catch he is not very elusive, but doesn't really need to be. A down the field target that can get open.
Jalil Brown is also a long prospect at 6'0 and weighs 201 pounds. Has very good zone awareness. Can intercept passes thrown his way. Can mirror the receiver. Is aggressive, but at times will get him in trouble. Has a questionable motor.

Needs to Prove: Justin Houston to some was projected to be a first round pick but fell. Needs to make smarter decisions. In May 2009, Houston was suspended for violating university substance abuse policy. Needs to bulk up (258 pounds). Needs to become a better run defender.

Personal Notes: Chiefs had one of the best drafts in my opinion. Did not get fancy, but got team needs. Had plenty of picks and used them tho their advantage. Jonathan Baldwin is a so called "DIVA", but he will help out this pass game and the offense alone. A needed position that the Chiefs did not shy away from. Ricky Stanzi was also a pick that I liked a lot. A good quality back up for Matt Cassel.

What do you think about the Chiefs draft? Did they use their picks correctly? Please leave a comment readers and tell me if you would like me to break down anyone else from the Chiefs draft. I am more than happy to do so.

  1. Rodney Hudson is a smart, intelligent player. He's only going to boost the already strong KC rush attack- i'm predicting Jamaal Charles will have a HUGE year in 2011
