Me, Steeler Steve, and a Whole lot of Steelers Football

Brandon Sweeney: Hello Steeler Steve, thank you for coming.
Steeler Steve: Thanks for having me, lets talk some football!

Brandon Sweeney: Alright. before we start asking you about the state of the Steelers, lets get a little history from you Steeler Steve. Why do you do this?
Steeler Steve: Just love the Steelers, and the NFL in general. I have since the age of eight, and it has just grown from there.

Brandon Sweeney: That is just terrific. Okay, lets get some opinion on the 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers. With a bye week this week, is it good for Ben Roethlisberger, or do you think Big Ben is ready to come out this Sunday without being rusty?

Steeler Steve: I think the bye could not have come at a better time. This is just what they needed. Ben will have an extra week to connect with his wide receivers, and get his timing down.

Brandon Sweeney: Look, I am a big fan of Ben, loved what he has done in the league so far. I hate to even bring this up, but now that this Ben thing is over, can you tell me what you think of him as a human being, and of his actions? How do you think Steeler Nation feels?
Steeler Steve: Well really, I don't know him as a human or personally, so that's not for me to answer. I think he has made some bonehead decisions in his personal life, and needed a wake up call. Lets just hope he gets it now. As far as Steeler Nation, as long as he shows he has learned from his mistakes and keeps winning, things should be fine.

Brandon Sweeney: Rashard Mendenhall, man this guy is looking like a monster out there. What are your observations of Mendenhall, and what are your expectations for him this year?
Steeler Steve: The thing people have to realize about Mendenhall is he was like 20 when we first got him. He came out early from Illinois and only started one season in college, so when the Steelers got him, he was still a raw talent, but in his third season as a Steeler, he has really developed into a top notch running back. The sky is the limit, and he still has room to grow. Soon to be a top running back in the NFL in my opinion.

Brandon Sweeney: You can not do an interview without talking about that Steelers defense. Are they better than the 2008 defense?
Steeler Steve: Well that's a tough question. It's only 4 games into this season, but I will say that this defense is one of the deepest and has a great mix of youth and veteran leaders. Timmons has really stepped up and is playing like a beast out there. Troy Polamalu is just playing out of this world. Over all, I would say so far, this is the best defense in a long time, not just for the Steelers, but in the league, but they will only be great if the Steelers are world champs this season.

Brandon Sweeney: Bryant McFadden was a huge transaction for the Steelers this off-season,, and I think that it helps William Gay. What do you think?
Steeler Steve: You hit the nail on the head with that one.McFadden is a huge improvement over last season and William Gay is better suited playing the Nickel defense.

Brandon Sweeney: In all honesty, are the Steelers the best team in the NFL right now?
Steeler Steve: I think with the addition of Big Ben and what he brings to the offense, teams will no longer be able to just stack the line for the run, and the defense is playing lights out, so I would say yes. I mean they are contenders without Ben, but a championship caliber team with him.

Brandon Sweeney: Nicely said Steeler Steve, now for the last question. What is going to be the Steelers record at the end of this season?
Steeler Steve: With all the Ben stuff behind them, and being 3-1. I can see them going 13-3 or better. No worse than 12-4. I think this season has the feel of another big year for the Steelers.

Brandon Sweeney: Steeler Steve everybody. You can catch him at his site, and Steeler Steve you do have a great site. http://steelersnstuff.blogspot.com Check it out any time. Steeler Steve, thanks for your time and generosity.

What do you think about the Favre issue and what it does to the NFL?

  2. Well, first of all thanks for the comment. Now about the Favre issue. Whenever a NFL icon like Brett Favre would put himself into a situation like this, it doesn't make the NFL look the cleanest. Now with this investigation just starting, let's hope something falls through so he becomes innocent. I like Favre as a player, I really hope he didn't do this.
