Closer than we may Think?

Hello everyone! After more than 100 days of an NFL Lockout, are we closer than everyone else thinks to getting a new collective bargaining agreement done? Well I am going to lay everything out on the table, and you will just have to make your own judgement on it.

Both sides will meet in Manhattan four times this week, starting Tuesday July 5th. Both sides also met last week four times in Minneapolis, which at the time was the first time they spent as long as four days meeting since the NFL Lockout has begun.
Hearing and reading different things on the meetings of last week, I know that last Thursday seemed from the beginning to be a bad situation. That the dispute could go back to the court. Going back to the court would be a very long process and that would not help both sides get a deal done by their deadline. Thankfully U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan kind of got everyone back on the right track and helped make progress on the revenue split.

Both sides have seemed to make a deadline in which they want to get this deal done. That time is Training Camp and Preseason. Owners do not want to be locked out during the preseason because they will lose close to $1 billion dollars just in the Preseason. Without the Preseason, it takes a big portion out of the revenue. If the deal is not done very soon, it will cause the biggest setback in this Lockout. It looks like we are at the end of the rope of this lockout in almost all directions, but there are still big hurdles to leap.

Within the next two weeks I am going to guess that this lockout will be ended. Seeing how these next two weeks are very critical in getting a deal done. This week: It is not out of the question that we could have a deal done by the end of this week. Like I already have said, there are some big things both sides need to get around, but if that happens fast enough, a deal could be done by the end of this week. All in all, I believe that it is most likely that we would see a deal get done next week. Seeing how that they have now hashed out some of the biggest topics in the new deal, the NFL and the players may be close to finally getting this done. All we can hope for is that these meetings in Manhattan go very well.

  1. I think that you are right about a deal being closer then many think. The NFL owners & players should of taken care of this business long before this. That's a huge amount of money for both sides to lose if this goes on much longer. Lets hope both sides wise up.
