Thanksgiving on the Gridiron

Hello NFL Fans. Let PFH be the first ones to tell you Happy Thanksgiving! As NFL Fans, I probably don't have to tell you that these are going to be great games on Thanksgiving. I am so pumped to watch these games. I plan on watching all three games while enjoying my turkey, stuffing, and all of the other great food we plan on having. No better way in spending Thanksgiving then watching NFL Football. We are going to take a look at all three games and how I think that there will be three upsets on Turkey Day!

Packers @ Lions is the first game that airs at 12:30 EST. The first game that everyone is talking about. And as shocking as it may be, a lot of people hopping on the Lions bandwagon to defeat the 10-0 Packers.
I am going to agree with this. Packers have been in some very close games this season and I think that they are playing a tough Lions team that can pull off the upset. The most important part of this game will be defense. Both teams have a top talented offense, but it comes down to which defense can make the most plays to help their team. We know that the Lions have a very talented defensive line. Their front four is very strong, but none of this matters if they can't put pressure on Aaron Rodgers and corral him. If they are able to rattle Rodgers which is not as easy as it looks, they will have won most of the battle. But again, like I said rattling Aaron Rodgers is easier said then done. This is a quarterback who has thrown for 31 touchdowns, with only four interceptions. Three games this season where Rodgers has been sacked four times, but he still passed for at least two touchdowns in each of them. Do the Lions have the defensive back group to stop this passing game if they can't rush Rodgers? My guess is no one has the defensive back group to stop this passing game. The Lions are not sub-par on offense neither. After coming off of a very impressive performance last week throwing five touchdowns, Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford has thrown for 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. As the Packers do have a nice receiving core, none of which compare to 6'5, 236 lbs, wide receiver Calvin Johnson. Johnson in my eyes is having his best season as a pro. 59 catches, 974 yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns. in just 10 games. Also averaging over 16 yards per catch. So if the Packers defense can not stop this offense, we may be looking at a shootout. I am looking at the defenses, and I think the Lions will somehow come up with a stop or two more than the defending Super Bowl Champs. My Prediction: Lions 34, Packers 27

Dolphins @ Cowboys is going to be another game that I am looking forward too. NFL Fans, do not lose your focus and change the channel, this is going to be a closer game than people think. I like what the Dolphins have been able to do this last month, and they are on a roll. Quarterback, Matt Moore has lead this Dolphins team to three straight wins. One which was on the road against the Chiefs. The Dolphins have been blowing their opponent out, winning by at least 11 points in the last three weeks. However, the Cowboys are very good on Thanksgiving games. Two seasons ago, beating the undefeated Saints and handing them their first loss of the 2009 season. Quarterback Tony Romo plays very good in the month of November, and as many people think that the Dolphins don't have a chance, I am going to say that they pull of the second upset of the day. All the focus is on quarterback Matt Moore though. Moore has passed for six touchdowns and only one interception in this three game winning streak. If he can keep this performance up, the Dolphins' chances are good. The Dolphins have been playing very good defense as of late as well. If you think this is a time to take a break and turn off that television and go eat some more food, don't turn it too fast. I like the Dolphins in this one. My Prediction: Cowboys 17, Dolphins 20

49ers @ Ravens is the third and final game on Thanksgiving. What better way to spend Thanksgiving with your family, then to watch two brothers going at it. Ravens' head coach John Harbaugh and 49ers' head coach Jim Harbaugh will be coaching against one another in what seems to be a "slobber knocker." Both teams have the top rated team in their division, and the 49ers have been a shock to everyone pulling off a 9-1 season so far. Jim Harbaugh has done some incredible things since controlling the headset for the 49ers. The biggest thing seems to be the incredible season quarterback Alex Smith is having after not doing much in this league for so long. Harbaugh has seemed to make Smith a reliable quarterback. Another thing is that the 49ers defense has been very tough this season. Not allowing a rushing touchdown this whole season. Harbaugh also seemed to find his team a early playoff spot if they keep this production up. John Harbaugh's achievements aren't forgotten neither. Taking his team to the playoffs years in a row, playing in the AFC Championship, and beating the division rivals Pittsburgh Steelers both times this season. All that aside, we look at these two teams and see which team will win this great match up. Of course you have to look at the defenses. The Ravens, who always have a good defense year in and year out may be playing without linebacker Ray Lewis, but all reports say they will test his toe before the game and see if he can play. Then the 49ers, who have been playing very tough this season, not allowing one rushing touchdown this whole season will be ready again on Thursday night. Both quarterbacks must play smart if they want to pick up a win. Alex Smith (13) has more touchdowns than Joe Flacco (12). I think the Ravens offense will have to play influenced if they want to win this ball game. Wide receiver Torrey Smith has been playing good as of late, but so has 49ers' cornerback Carlos Rogers who has five interceptions this season. Flacco must be safe with the ball if he wants any chance of winning because the 49ers defense is very tough and will make big plays. In another close game, I think the team with the most losses will win it again. My Prediction: Ravens 28, 49ers 24

Well there you have it. Three upsets NFL Fans. No matter what the outcome of these game, I know that this is going to be a great Thanksgiving to watch some professional football. I love all three of these games, and while I am chowing down on some delicious food, I am going to watch six teams play some good football. Everyone, have a good Thanksgiving and travel safe.                                               HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
